Grapevine Magazine County Naturally segment featuring Norman Smith, January 14, 2026 When Snowy Owls meet planes, the result isn’t pretty. Massachusetts Audubon volunteer Norman Smith wanted to prevent owl/aircraft collisions at Boston’s Logan Airport. That facility has the highest numbers of the owls of any airport in North America. Along the way, Norman wrote the protocol for managing snowies at airports, and he turned his volunteer project into an impressive research study of the lives of these owls. He will be talking to Pamela Stagg about the majestic birds he loves so much.

Grapevine Maagazine, The County Naturally interview with Dr. Ryan Danby, January, 2026 Wildlife overpasses and underpasses have reduced wildlife mortality on the highways around Banff by as much as 75% – 80%. And they’ve minimized injuries to humans and damage to vehicles, as well. If Dr. Ryan Danby has his way, these structures will be included in plans for expanding Highway 401to 8 lanes through the Frontenac Arch area. He’ll be talking to Pamela Stagg about how this could be done and what it would mean for animals, humans and even insurance claims.

Built in 1889 on Consecon Street in Wellington, this large white building has been both an entertainemtn venue and Masonic Meeting Hall. Researcher Pearl Hucul.

Reflections on Lives and Times in Prince Edward County, A Tale of Two Rivals, legal dispute, 1870 Reflections on the Lives and Times in Prince Edward County is a series of 23 radio vignettes on the history of the County. The series was funded by the New Horizons for Seniors Program, Government of Canada, and sponsored by Base31. In this episode, a meandering stream led to a bitter fight between the Roblin family and Jesse Potter in the 1870s over ownership of a stream. Ironically, the rivals were laid to rest side by side in a little graveyard that straddles both Proerties. Researcher: Brenda Shardlow.
