Grapevine Magazine County Naturally segment featuring Norman Smith, January 14, 2026
-
Description
-
When Snowy Owls meet planes, the result isn’t pretty. Massachusetts Audubon volunteer Norman Smith wanted to prevent owl/aircraft collisions at Boston’s Logan Airport. That facility has the highest numbers of the owls of any airport in North America. Along the way, Norman wrote the protocol for managing snowies at airports, and he turned his volunteer project into an impressive research study of the lives of these owls. He will be talking to Pamela Stagg about the majestic birds he loves so much.
